Back to Pearl Basin, Colorado for some backcountry skiing today. Wind has hammered things pretty good, variable conditions to say the least.

Skiing the last few days out of Crested Butte, we skied the tighter chute mostly shaded just to the right of the big sunny face,run is about 2,500 vert and 40+ degrees.

Pearl Basin, Colorado. We went gonzo with the pickup truck again and reached the same parking for ski touring access, near Aspen.

The amount of snow in Montezuma Basin, Colorado is of historic proportions. Pack is easily 48 inches overall, with areas of six or more feet in the lee of the classic fetches that build the “glacier” we ski on in the summer.

Just got back from a great day skiing the Castle Couloir off the north face of Castle Peak and Conundrum Couloir off Conundrum peak today.
