Back to Pearl Basin, Colorado for some backcountry skiing today. Wind has hammered things pretty good, variable conditions to say the least. We climbed Mace Peak and skied from the summit, but hit some rocks and thin crusty snow. Need another storm — but it was fun.
Jason skiing from the summit of Mace Peak, East Pearl Mtn. in background. Wind has been moving tons of snow around, a bit of hard slab avy danger here and there so we were being conservative. |
(Sled skiers note: Two ice flows cover the road just before the Pearl Pass Road intersection. One appears to be tough (but not impossible) to get past with a snowmobile.)
