Some of you might remember when we reported a while back about the untimely death of Friends Hut founder and ski alpinist Robin Ferguson. This afternoon was his memorial service, so we got a group of friends together and made some turns for Robin this morning up at Independence Pass, near here in Colorado.

| The climb this morning, Geissler to the left. Independence conditions report: New snow over dirt layer is holding at higher elevations, but only good for a few more days on anything but northerly, which will be the last to go. Perfect corn yielded good turns through late morning on all but the most sun cooked aspects. Trailhead start time of 6:30 AM worked well, though longer tours might require an hour or so earlier. |
