Using Friends Hut for a day tour is a nice way to enjoy ski mountaineering in Elk Mountains of Colorado near Aspen and Crested Butte, stop at Pine Creek Cookhouse.

Talk about getting more than one person at a time on an avalanche in ski touring area, this takes the cake. Looks like some folks were buried and hurting somewhat

We got about 5
minutes notice and all the food I ate gave me stomach cramps…so I was
feeling slow. Maybe I went too hard in the teams race as well. -
