The Euro ski racing scene was kind of an eye opener. The resorts are huge, wide open and do almost no avalanche control work by North American standards. Add to that the mentality that avalanches are seen as an unavoidable act of God, and you begin to see why so many people die over there.

Talk about getting more than one person at a time on an avalanche in ski touring area, this takes the cake. Looks like some folks were buried and hurting somewhat

We got about 5
minutes notice and all the food I ate gave me stomach cramps…so I was
feeling slow. Maybe I went too hard in the teams race as well. -
