Got out backcountry skiing today in the aspen forest terrain west of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. We hit the south faces first, where about 8 inches of fresh on a solid corn-snow base allowed us into some tight and fun aspens. Skinned back up after that, and nailed the north facing, which was also quite excellent. I was testing the Silvretta Pure bindings combined with Garmont Mega Ride boots, both worked well. Louie was testing the snow, it worked well too.
Our mission today, with some fairly high avalanche hazard lurking around Colorado, was to have an excellent day of backcountry skiing — without avalanche danger. Success.
