Yes, skiing Temerity was awesome fun. Temperatures have been very cold in the Roaring Fork Valley so we have “hero snow” conditions. At least that’s my explanation for my good skiing last weekend. Could also be from the nice gear Lou has set me up with.
In fact, being a Southern California beach girl, I am always a bit apprehensive about the cold. I was pleasantly surprised mid-day at Highlands to realize that I had not even been thinking about it despite below normal temperatures. Here’s the system that worked for me (hint: Xmas ideas for you sweet guys out there):
Base layers were by Isis, which makes the most comfy pieces I’ve ever worn. Mid-weight ski socks by Thorlo and a custom, insulated boot liner from Bill Thistle kept my feet warm. For my outer shell, I wore my favorite black softshell pants, the Symmetry pant by Cloudveil. New on top, I wore the Women’s Down Patrol jacket by Cloudveil. Is it ever a snazzy item! The puffy down, yet streamline parka kept me the perfect temperature all day. Not too hot, not too cold, I was totally comfortable. Just what I needed to forget about the cold and focus on FUN. Can’t wait to get through the work week and wear it all again next weekend!
