Being in the mountains is a time to feel your best and to test. (And be safe.) Early fall is the time to begin training for ski season. Zahan Billimoria from The Samsara Experience discusses his underlying training philosophies to be your best in the hills.
Doug calls September 15th the defacto start to pre-season training for backcountry skiing. Some call it dryland training. Some call it mountain biking. And some call it a “better late than never.” If you are someone in need of a gentle nudge to get the motor revved and the soft tissue primed for your winter objectives, Zahan Billimoria spends some time on the pod discussing his perspective on training the whole body for mountain pursuits.
Billimoria comes to Totally Deep from the hills of Jackson, Wyoming, where he runs Samsara, an online and brick-and-mortar training service for mountain athletes. In a not-so-past life, Z was a standout mountain/ski guide for Exum. You can learn more about his experience as a guide and navigating dicey terrain in the mountains. Here are two good options; the first, a Totally Deep episode featuring Zahan, and the second, a Patagonia/TGR film.
