Some of you have been asking for more detail about the new Capitol Peak ski route, Neal Beidleman sent this along (more to come):
No dignity on a knife ridge — Chris Davenport “Au Cheval” on Capitol Peak’s razor. The snow windrow on the ridge gets quite a bit wider than this during many years and can be skied or walked across, but during snow seasons the rest of the climbing to the summit is always technical alpinism that surprises some people who expect yet another “easy” Colorado Fourteener. Neal and Dav knew what to expect and were obviously ready for it.
Ski route is marked with red dotted line. |
