High avalanche danger, high priced food and beer at Elk Camp, Snowmass, Colorado. Locals here in Roaring Fork Valley, you can skin up to the restaurant and get a cup of tea to stay on budget. Fun scene up there. Let’s make it an uphilling scene every Friday night! Snowmass has the most liberal uphilling policy of any area mountains; they even allow dogs any time (on leash). Nice that I could bring Lou. Tip: We’re not sure if the parking at Elk Camp is mandatory fee or not, but you can park for free at Two Creeks in the evening and skin from there, though the route begins with about a kilometer of nearly flat trail.
