You’ve seen the ‘Dav’ in countless photos and vid segments, but how does he handle a screw driver? Just fine. I’m a witness. The other day we gave a pair of his Kastle FX84s the Dynafit FT12 treatment. Dav is now a Dynafitter (but don’t freak TGR boys, he’s still got plenty of Dukes mounted on his arsenal of Kastle guns.) Oh, yep, those are, gasp, Garmont Radium AT boots!

This sounds like an interesting event, so here is a PSA for y’all. Black Diamond Equipment will host North America’s first ever “Big LePowSki” ski extravaganza from February 26-28 in Salt Lake City. A ski festival, the Big LePowSki begins…

This just in from the Dav, thought I should pass it along. Pretty cool, if you ask me, what an amazing dream trip for a ski mountaineer. During our last trip to Europe I was hoping to at least ski…

I’m tempted to name today as 1/1/01 A.D., as in “After Davenport.” I just got an advance copy of Dav’s new book “Ski The 14ers” — and that’s (nearly) how earth shattering I believe this is as a mountaineering publication.…

10 Things To Know — Part 6: Make a Hop Turn in the Face of Danger, Chris Davenport’s Take

The new pub is amazing, basically a coffee table 14er book with enough 14er ski porn to keep you amped for ten seasons. Chris emailed me and said they’re shooting for a Christmas release. That would indeed be the “hot track,” but knowing Chris Davenport I wouldn’t expect anything less!

Denali Gets Skied Like It’s Never Been Skied — Guest Report from Chris Davenport
by Lou Dawsonby Lou DawsonChris Davenport continues as a leader of the current generation of North American ski mountaineers in their prime. I’d heard he was going to Denali this spring, and as always expected plenty of inspiring success, but this is over the…

This past Friday’s annual Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI) fundraiser “Festival of the Peaks” was a raging success. Held at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado, the event included a silent auction with an amazing amount of merchandise, a Mexican…

But even the darkest cloud has the potential to produce beautiful powder. Thus, sooner or later I suspect we’ll see a movie about Davenport’s fourteener project. I’m sure it will be enjoyable, even award winning — and perhaps better than the original cut by focusing even more on the personal, spiritual and wilderness aspects of Colorado ski alpinism.

This just in: Over the past few days Chris Davenport got excellent ski descents of Mount Shavano and Blanca Peak. He’s now 53 peaks into his goal of skiing all 54 Colorado 14,000 foot peaks in one 12 month period.…

While quick stabs at 14,000 foot peaks don’t usually result in altitude caused health problems, if you spend a long day up high or have to emergency bivouac you can be in for some hurt.

When I set out to climb and ski all of Colorado’s 14ers last winter, my goal was singular; to challenge my skills and abilities with a difficult goal.
