You’ve seen the ‘Dav’ in countless photos and vid segments, but how does he handle a screw driver? Just fine. I’m a witness. The other day we gave a pair of his Kastle FX84s the Dynafit FT12 treatment. Dav is now a Dynafitter (but don’t freak TGR boys, he’s still got plenty of Dukes mounted on his arsenal of Kastle guns.) Oh, yep, those are, gasp, Garmont Radium AT boots!

I’m tempted to name today as 1/1/01 A.D., as in “After Davenport.” I just got an advance copy of Dav’s new book “Ski The 14ers” — and that’s (nearly) how earth shattering I believe this is as a mountaineering publication.…

The new pub is amazing, basically a coffee table 14er book with enough 14er ski porn to keep you amped for ten seasons. Chris emailed me and said they’re shooting for a Christmas release. That would indeed be the “hot track,” but knowing Chris Davenport I wouldn’t expect anything less!

But even the darkest cloud has the potential to produce beautiful powder. Thus, sooner or later I suspect we’ll see a movie about Davenport’s fourteener project. I’m sure it will be enjoyable, even award winning — and perhaps better than the original cut by focusing even more on the personal, spiritual and wilderness aspects of Colorado ski alpinism.
