We were saddened to hear reports this weekend of skier Thomas Metcalf dying from a fall at Rollins Pass, and another injured in what sounds like a separate accident. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a ski mountaineer dying in July in Colorado, all so sad. Reports are sketchy, but I’m imagining both skiers took sliding falls on firm summer snow that sometimes is quite a bit slicker than it appears. Whatever the case, condolences to Metcalf’s friends and family. If anyone has details about these events, please drop us a line.
Hearing about the Rollins Pass accidents makes WildSnow nuts and bolts seem mundane, but life goes on here at World HQ. We had some problems with our Blog comments function over the weekend. The short story is that I’ve been developing my own Blog template (the shell that gives it our WildSnow look). It’s based on the previous template, and while moving things around I messed up. Should be fixed now, but please let us know if you have trouble making comments.
Also, per Jason’s ideas I changed the buttons on the news scroller so they match the up/down buttons in the scroll bar of most web browsers. Do the buttons make any more sense?
More, today I’ve FINALLY finished converting all our older blog posts to fit in this blog software. This makes all blog posts searchable with the blog search function to your right on our homepage, and might make some fun reading for blog newcommers. Could take a while to check them all out — as of today we’ve got 829 posts recorded!
