Griffin Post is not what you would call a ‘timid skier’. Quite the contrary. Since making his debut on the Extreme Freeskiing circuit in Crested Butte in 2006, he has made a name — and a living — cascading down big lines around the world. He’s a regular in Warren Miller and TGR films, as well as a writer who’s been published in several ski rags (maybe this one also someday?). We’ve been trying to get Griffin on the podcast for years and thanks to Covid necessitating remote podcast recording, we finally made it happen.
Griffin was born in Austria but grew up in Idaho and calls Jackson, Wyoming home. In the pre-Covid days, he regularly traveled around the world to pursue big objectives in places like Chile, Alaska and most recently Nepal. His 2019 expedition to Nepal with Blake Gordon and Christina Lustenberger did not turn out as planned (details in the ep) and Griffin hopes to return someday soon to give it another go.
On the episode, Doug and Griffin discuss the joys of getting to know your backyard, how random strangers can help you scout a new zone and the questionable merits of snow camping. There’s also ample gear talk (Griffin is a Kaestle skis team member and rep) and general banter about the sport we all love. Check it out.

While most of the WildSnow backcountry skiing blog posts are best attributed to a single author, some work well as done by the group.
