Lou-
Beta- I skied Montezuma basin yesterday and it was in great shape. I bashed my old Cherokee to just below the last switchback (another truck made it 100 yds. further). From there, I boot hiked to the base of the bottom headwall and then skinned up. On the way down, the upper headwall was in great shape (soft snow in the afternoon). The low angle “middle pitch” was ridiculously fun and the bottom headwall was tracked (but still stupid fun considering that it was still September). I did see a lady set off a small soft slide while glissading down in the upper basin. It was about 10″ deep and ran for about 50′. Not a killer, but a good reminder to keep your head on straight.
Happy skiing, Cory
