Independence Pass this morning, John skiing Geissler. Without some sort of renewal storm the snow up there won’t last much longer. Dirt layer is showing more, and the snowpack has gained quite a bit of heat over the last few weeks. We found a bit of excellent skiing, while much of the snow surface was somewhat suncupped. We’ve simply not had the snowstorms in late April and May that deepen the snowpack and even out the surface. Oh well…every year is different. Fun was had anyhow. |
