As everyone knows, proper hydration gives you the performance edge in sports such as backcountry skiing. But drinking plain water gets tiresome, and lots of athletic drinks are too full of sugars and chemicals. Thus, my son Louie and I got into NUUN products a while ago and we have not looked back.
The excellent new product from NUUN is U, a vitamin drink. Just like NUUN, the dissolving drink tablets are easy to carry and turn your water into a low calorie, refreshing drink of balanced electrolytes and vitamins (only in the case of U it’s more of a mix of vitamins than electrolytes). Drinking more water is easy with fresh flavors like tangerine ginger, lemon chai, and goji berry green tea, my favorite. (If you do need a calorie drink for something major, just use NUUN or U with diluted fruit juice, or drink your NUUN with a gel or a bite of bannana.)
Statistics, at least those I read in the latest issue of Vogue, show that working out is so much easier when you have a snazzy little outfit to wear, (and backcountry skiing is easier in the right outfit as well!) Thus, I’m set to go with my new sleeveless hoodie from I/O Bio. Made of the luxurious lightweight merino that is said to be unique to I/O Bio, this is the perfect base layer — with a hood that’s ideal to pull under a hat or helmet when the weather turns. A beautiful shade of deep aqua blue takes this piece over the top.
Top quality shades are a treat to have and it’s the biggest drag when they get scratched. My glasses will be better protected now with Hides Technoskin, a 3 in 1 patented system of cord, case, and cleaner. One version is designed for glasses, another, Goggleskin, for goggles. This handy little system will prolong the life of our sport lenses and is highly recommended.
Now, for a weekend of actually using some of this stuff!
