WildSnow has been following the Himlayan Speed Project for a few weeks now. The expedition is in the wrap-up stages as Prakash and Bene are back in basecamp after a successful summit and descent. Himlumng Himal is a 7,126m (23,380 ft.) peak that sits on the border of Nepal and Tibet. The team approached the peak from the Nepal side. According to initial reports, travel from basecamp to summit took 6:46 hours and the full round trip 9:38 hours. Himlung’s basecamp sits at 4850m (15,912 ft.). In this video short, Bene briefly explains the objective as they plan to depart for the peak. Video: alexdemilia and mountainfilmcrew.

WildSnow will follow up with a final dispatch early this week.
While most of the WildSnow backcountry skiing blog posts are best attributed to a single author, some work well as done by the group.
